Talk:Sign In
From Social Patterns
I would like to keep user's on the same page to sign in. This could be accomplished with in-line sign-in, an overlay or pop-up. Anybody have an opinion on these options from a UX best practices point of view? Mauronic 16:22, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Inline sign in
I think keeping people in context - through inline sign in or using an overlay - is fine. This keeps people on task and keeps the interruption to a minimum.
Users are pretty used to signing in, having a sign in page come up, then going back to task - so while an extra step, people are accustomed to the flow.
Anything we can do to streamline the process and keep people moving into what they want to do the better.
